The Multi-Site Paradox

Salle Amphi "Bleu de Sassenage" Auditoire Découverte Time Slot Vendredi 16:45 - 17:25 (10/04/2026)
Description

In the enterprise, the "Single Codebase" is often sold as a silver bullet for efficiency. However, the reality is a constant tug-of-war: Global IT demands security and stability, while Local Marketing Managers demand unique features and agility. Without a formal governance framework, this friction leads to "Snowflake Syndrome"—a bloated codebase where custom local modules make global updates impossible to test and deploy.

This session moves beyond the "one-size-fits-all" myth. We will explore the concept of Managed Divergence, a governance strategy that uses Multi-Experience Operations (MEO) to allow different production environments to run on the same codebase but at different versioned release cycles. This approach provides a "buffer" for local innovation without breaking the centralized source of truth.

Durée de la conférence
40 min
Pré-requis (concepts ou connaissances particulières à connaître)

Multi-Site Experience: A basic understanding of the Single Codebase concept (e.g., Drupal Multisite, distributions, or multisite-adjacent architectures).

The Development Lifecycle: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and how code moves from development to production.

Ce que le public aura appris après avoir assisté à cette conférence

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:

Identify Governance Mismatch: Recognize the early warning signs of "Snowflake Syndrome" before local customizations make a global codebase unmaintainable.

Architect "Managed Divergence": Implement a tiered deployment strategy that allows sites to run on different version cycles without splintering the core repository.

Balance Stakeholder Priorities: Use a structured framework to negotiate between the Global CTO’s need for security and the Local Marketer’s demand for agility.

Implement a "Three-Pillar" Strategy: Categorize and apply distinct governance rules for Code, Brand, and Content to streamline decision-making.

Evaluate Operational Risks: Utilize audit logs and granular permission models to provide the transparency required by enterprise-level risk management.
